I’ve got some work to do with Ghost and Huffmans that were delayed by the newest update. More in managing my cc. But since I haven’t the today to get either ready, I figured I play for a day and try out the new dining experience. Everyone else is doing it.
You may know our restauranteer – Shannon Drifter from my Drifter Challenge. After achieving the chef aspiration, I figured Shannon was perfect to run this newly minted restaurant. With only our starting funds of 15,000 simoleons, the restaurant is rather quaint.
This is the Burning Bowl.
We’re hoping to specialize in “bowl” dishes going forward. Right now we’re sticking to level one foods. Now that our menu is set. It’s time to open.
Our first customers. They actually ended up pretty happy in the end despite his face. Perhaps he’s just starstruck?
We managed to get one famous face to work for us.
Colette Rosebrook! Hi!!!! *waves* Colette is from CitizenErased14’s Ashes to Ashes Legacy and I borrowed her for a short story once so she’s sitting around in this Timeless save.
Our place was hopping all day. And we had a few familiar faces (okay one other face) but I completely spaced on getting a picture of him. I’ll be sure not to make that mistake again. Twice all three tables were filled.
When the last rush ended we closed the restaurant to new customers and focused on our final table. Shannon wanted to make sure everyone got that personal touch on our first day and we were all starting to drag as we approached the 10 hour mark.
If you’re wondering a “bowl of olives” was our most popular meal. Everyone just ordered appetizers and drinks today, but I’m not concerned none of our main dishes are in bowls yet so I’d almost rather not have them.
How do the finances look, Shannon?
I’d say that was pretty good! We even earned a star! Looks like the extra touch Shannon was giving out was perfect. We can’t really expect much of our new help yet since they’re all level 1 in their skills, but hopefully they’ll work out. I’m a little worried since our host is pregnant and we may need to replace her when she goes on maternity leave.
But for now, it’s time to close up shop and head home.
Nite ya’ll. I’ll try and get some screenshotting in tomorrow, but if not we’ll continue our adventures with Shannon here.
Oh! PS if you see it, let me know what you think of my new theme. I had to redo my menus and I have had my eye on this theme for a few weeks now. I’ve got some clean up to do for how it displays things, which always happens when you change themes, but hopefully this one will last me through the year. I will be making edits to the hope page and to some of the story pages over the next few days.
I loved it. Right now all i’ve done is create a new game file and build s restaurant. Just need my familt to earn enough money to buy it so it’s great to get a little “preview” of it.

Until last night that was all I’d done as well! And I’ve only played the 10 hours of restaurant you see here, it went by fast!
But it is quite fun to play – I’m going to have to make Shannon an office or something, the place is so small that there wasn’t anyplace to stand that wasn’t in the middle of everything!

Your “notify me of new comments via email” button doesn’t work. I can’t mark it off

That is strange…I didn’t change anything in my settings except the theme, but I do see that it’s not check-able for me either. I’ll have to take a look and see what went wrong. In my settings all I see is the ability to hide those buttons all together.

Didn’t you get a new template or theme or something? Could be a bug with that.

Yup. That’s what in thinking. Sadly since even if it’s theme related, it’s still a browser bug. But I’m going to see if I can’t alert the theme makers. It’s not something I can fix.

If only it was that simple to do it yourself 🙂 hopefully they will figure out what to do soon. I hope there are no more trouble for you.

Ditto! I really like this theme… there’s always something wrong with anything out of the box though. 😦

Looks like it’s a browser issue. I can’t check the boxes in Chrome, but when I popped onto Firefox and the checkboxes worked.
Unfortunately since I’m not hosting the site I have to wait until the browser or wordpress figure out what’s wrong and change whatever it is going wrong. If the boxes worked yesterday, it’s probably tied to this theme which will slow down a fix. I’ll keep an eye on it though.
You should be able to set up notification on your own without using the checkboxes.
If you can click on your account icon in the upper right (next to the new post and notification links). On this profile page is a left side menu that includes “Notifications.” Click on that. The second tab of this page is “Comments” and you can turn on/off email notifications for replies and likes on other blogs.
But that will do it for ALL your comments and likes on other people’s blogs. So you loose the ability to specify which comments you want notifications on. Possibly not ideal.

Just saw this comment right after i commented above. Oh well 😛
I am on internet explorer on my mobile, which i use mostly for blogs like this. I don’t use chrome.
Oh just got a notification that you liked my above comment. That’s so strange haha…
I haven’t gotten notifications all day so it’s weird.

Oh that is strange that you’re not getting notifications.
So far then the checkboxes work in Firefox on a computer – since they don’t work on Safari on mobile either. as I checked there as well. I wonder if all mobile browsers are broken this way.

Another reason not to get safari 😛 the other reason is that i don’t know the browser. Lame i know 😛 what did you mean with making shannon an officer?

Yay! I got firefox on my mobile and now the box works ×D

Hahaha! That’s terrible that you had to do that, but I’m glad it’s fixed.

Nah it’s okay :3 internet explorer is the default and Google Chrome are the default browsers on my phone. I don’t use Chrome anymore because it’s filled with viruses from when my computer was attacked by a massive amount of virus (from downloading some woohoo poses for sims3, which i found out the hard way is a very bad idea. I had to buy and reinstall windows 7). And I’ve actually never really liked Internet Explorer. So my best choice is Mozilla Firefox, which I really like and also use on my desctop and laptop 🙂

I noticed the new theme right away and said, “ooooh!”
Ya know…that new brick…it makes EVERYTHING look more hip lol. You say it’s quaint, but that place looks really nice! I’m glad we can make good looking restaurants for very little money. It almost makes me wish I would have built Jonathan’s restaurant, but I was so excited to get started I didn’t want to spend the time! Maybe the next one…or not lol.

I’m not sure you could EVER give me too many brick options. I ❤ bricks. Jonathan's restaurant would have been cool – but well, he had his chance and I found his place pretty believable at the time. I say, let someone else enjoy the Dine Out experience. 😛

HA! No! Jonathan will have his day too lol. Actually, the restaurant I downloaded for him has those bricks too lol.

They are the best bricks!

I also noticed the new theme right away. I was like “what the heck?” *snort* I like it!
It’s awesome that you built a small restaurant like that. The Holt’s are rolling in dough so I paid no attention to the prices of any of the restaurants that Kristof has tried so far. Also so cool you’ve got Colette.

Haha – I had this great plan to put a warning post up that I was going to chance it and everything and then yesterday I went – nah…just change it. Now of course I’m running around fixing things that look too funky that worked in the last theme.
Yeah – starting cash means the restaurant is tiny, but I wanted that “accurate” feel. If I could Shannon would have started with a food truck.

I saw one on Twitter with a shack for the cook and picnic tables, nothing else. I thought that was pretty cool.

I love the decor! Where did you get it?! I haven’t done a restaurant yet, can’t wait!

Most of it is from the new pack! I like how it all came together in a brick/black/and red theme.

Wow! Nice theme! 🙂
OMG, Colette!! *Waves* Hello!! Nice to see you there! That restaurant is beautiful, especially the decor! I can’t wait to get Dine Out and start my new stories series. Hey, maybe Colette can work at one of the restaurants that one of my 8 Sims will run.

Sadly the game sort of dictates who you can hire – you get a choice but Colette was the only one I knew from all the options.
Your new series is looking pretty cool (from the teasers) – here’s to you getting Dine Out so you can get started.

Bowl of olives! That is awesome! I tried to play it a bit earlier (as a customer) but the food never came .. all of the children passed out from exhaustion and everyone was starving LOL I had to exit without saving EEEK

That happened to me one time too. Just cancel the action to wait for food to be delivered and then order again. I waited 4-5 hours the forst time. After reordering the food came almost instantly 🙂

Ahhh try for the tip … I will do that for sure!!

Ooh smart. Did it just never arrive? Cuz when Shannon ordered, the food arrived, or rather the server had the dish and swooped it open, but it didn’t appear on the table.

Oh no! That’s horrid. I wonder what went wrong?

Why isn’t this story listed with your other stories?

Ah! I am still trying to figure out where to put it! It’s not really a challenge, and it’s not really part of Shannon’s Drifter story. Normally this stuff I do with my simself so I have a place for it. But yeah – I should figure out where to put this “story.”

There’s always my “recents” page which includes everything. Including things I don’t yet have in my menus.

Restaurants look fun! I’ve only been once, as a customer (our glutton Charlie!). He enjoyed it.
I like the new theme! (And I miss the old one… and the one before that…) But change is good. And this is sparkling clean!

You’re probably the only one that remembers them all! There were jsut too many features I likes better with this theme to pass it up.
I’ve actually never been to eat at a restaurant yet. But soon I hope!
